I am happy to wear many hats these days, all
of which I believe give me important
experience with which to serve you on the
City Council.
My wife, Karianna, and I are parents to
two beautiful young children, Karsten
and Annika. If you have kids, you know
how much you can learn from them, and how
dramatically they change your perspective
on things.

Professionally, I lead a small, public affairs consultancy, Wilson Strategic
Communications, Inc, that focuses on the intersection of public policy and
public engagement. I started this
effort following 5 years as a political
science and economics instructor
at Edmonds Community College,
where I continue to work on special projects.
In 2004, my wife and I decided to become small business owners. We
purchased a restaurant and opened another, both of which were in Bothell.
After building the store, the brand, and revenues, we sold the stores in the
winter of 2007 at a significant profit.
In short, I know the pressures of meeting a payroll, the vital nature of
smart budgeting, and the critical importance of business
development when it comes to leading organizations.
Here in Edmonds, I've put that experience directly to work as a leader in my
community.
I've also volunteered in other efforts, ranging from the 2000 Sno-Isle Library
annexation to the 2007 Lynnwood Rotary Hi-5 Run.
My educational background includes a BA from Gonzaga University, and an
MA from Johns Hopkins University.
In sum, from my family to my volunteer experience, from my work as a
teacher to that as an entrepreneur -- as well as my wide body of civic
leadership -- I believe I am well suited to represent you on the Edmonds City
Council.

the Brightwater sewer treatment plant - Trustee, Cascade Land Conservancy
